Pumpkin Carving Day 1
The fun thing about pumpkin picking is finding that perfect pumpkin while getting tangled and dirty in the pumpkin patch. Unfortunately, the day we decided to go pumpkin picking felt more like summer than fall, and rather than a patch at the place we went to, there was a field of pumpkins instead… they also didn’t sell pumpkin pies. So disappointing.
By the time we finished shopping for our pumpkins and had returned from dinner, the night finally felt more Fall (my favorite season).
Onto the pumpkin carving…
- Markers (to draw the face on first)
- Butcher knife to cut off the top
- Steak knives for the more intricate details
- Rite Aid lights to illuminate + AAA batteries
Pumpkin Carving Day 2
I happened to go pumpkin picking a second time this year, and was sad to hear that because of the 11 inches of rain due to Hurricane Irene, the pumpkin crop was ruined and the pumpkins had to be shipped in from the Midwest – some of them actually still had purchased stickers on them in the field… oops
But, this farm was selling homemade pumpkin pie, which was delicious.
And, these are how the pumpkins turned out the 2nd time.
I love the different personalities of all the pumpkins this year.
Next year, since I’m a scuba diver, I might do an underwater pumpkin carving contest. They do one at Dutch Springs in PA that seems like a lot of fun!
