K-Cup Catastrophe

I am having a nervous breakdown because I was just reading an article about the 15 Foods You Should Never Buy (The 15 Most Pointless Foods in Your Supermarket) and my treasured Keurig K-Cups are on there! WHhhhYYYyyyy?!

The article says how wasteful they are, “made from non-recyclable, non-biodegradable plastic” that “leach chemicals that can interfere with hormonal development” when heated. Yikes. Besides the fact I’m trying to eat healthy, I’m studying Nonprofit Management…What are my environmentalist peers going to think about my non-biodegradable waste?! I need to fix this. The article recommends buying a stovetop espresso maker like the Bialetti, which looks awesome, but is just not for me. My beloved Keurig is a time-saver, set to automatically turn on and off so the stove-top thing just isn’t going to cut it.

ekobrew: Reusable Filter for Keurig

I did a little search and read about A Greener K-Cup. Why didn’t I know about the ekobrew cup? A single cup is about $12 on amazon. It is refillable, easy to clean, and made of 100% BPA free plastic. It is environmentally friendly and is probably going to save me a ton of money not having to buy those overpriced K-cups! Usually I got to T.J. Maxx to buy K-cups because they are cheaper and occasionally carry the revv brew, but sometimes they don’t have any in stock and I leave empty handed longing to buy one of the many bags of coffee whose smell has embedded itself in my nose. As soon as I get home I’m making sure my Keurig is compatible so I can get the ekobrew and buy whatever I want! I’ll let you know how it goes.

P.S. My eyes are almost healed from ICL surgery! I’ll share that experience as soon as I can get an after pic
